Freshman Admission
Admission to the major will be granted, on a space available basis, to
freshman applicants who meet the Office of Admissions requirement for the
College of Education and Human Development and who declare by fifth class
day of the fall semester the Sport
Management program as their first choice. Admission will allow you to enter
the program in the pre-professional phase (EDSM), and you must apply for the
professional phase of the program (SPMT) when you have completed the
required pre-professional phase courses. With freshman admission, you may
take the Sport Management lower level required courses (e.g., KINE 217)
and the University Core Curriculum. Freshman admission is granted without
any assurances that you will be accepted in to the professional phase of the
program (SPMT).
Change of Major
Admission will be granted to internal transfer students (current A&M
students that want to change majors) on a space available basis. The program
has a limited number of “seats” available and will accept only the most
qualified applicants. Internal transfer students will be considered for
admission three times per year. For the 2007-08 academic year, the following
dates will represent the application deadlines:
Spring Acceptance: October 1, 2007 (5:00 PM CT)
Summer Acceptance: March
3,
2008 (5:00 PM CT)
Fall Acceptance: July
1, 2008 (5:00 PM CT)

3. Attend a change of major

TRANSFER STUDENT ACCEPTANCE
REVIEWS:
A faculty committee will review all transfer applications. The committee
will consider overall GPR, relevant experience and appropriate career
aspirations (as presented in the essay), and the likelihood of success in
the sport management program when considering applications. Spelling,
grammar, punctuation and command of writing will also be important in the
rating of each essay.
If the deadline is missed, you will not be considered for entry until the
following semester.
You will be notified of the decision taken on your application (by email or
mail) within 30 days of the deadline date in which you applied. If your
application is accepted, you will enter the program in the pre-professional
phase (EDSM) and must apply for professional phase status (SPMT) when you
have completed the required pre-professional phase course work.
