PROFESSIONAL PHASE ACCEPTANCE REVIEWS:

A faculty committee will review all applications. All applicants will be rank ordered from highest to lowest based on the criteria outlined below. The total number of applicants to be accepted will be determined by the Department based on the number of "seats available" in the program for both the Internship and Non-Internship Options. Applicants will be accepted on a "best qualified" basis subject to "seats available.” Meeting minimum qualifications is no guarantee for admissions.

Determination of professional phase admission will be made approximately 30 days after the application deadline in the semester in which you applied. Notification of acceptance or denial to the professional phase of the sport management program will be made by email to the applicant’s TAMU e-mail address.

The committee will consider the following criteria when reviewing students:

  1. Overall GPR (30%)
  2. Prerequisite (required course) GPR (20%)
  3. Relevant career goals and aspirations (as presented in the essay) (10%)
  4. Relevant sport industry experience (as presented in the essay and resume) (20%)
  5. Extracurricular/volunteer activities/non-sport work experience (as presented in the essay and resume)  (20%)

Applicants who frequently drop or withdraw from courses will be at a disadvantage in the review for admission.

Students may apply for professional phase admission no more than two times. Students failing to gain approval to enter the professional phase for the third time may not reapply for admission to the Sport Management program.
